Master’s little helpers

MEMBERS of the Maccabi AJAX Cricket Club (MACC) were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity earlier this month by taking part in a practice session at the MCG, bowling to members of the Indian Test team, including “Little Master” Sachin Tendulkar, Test cricket’s third-highest run-getter Rahul Dravid, batsman VVS Laxman and pace bowler Ishant Sharma.

The advance squad of seven Indian players travelled to Melbourne to prepare for the four Test series against Australia. The rest of the Indian squad will arrive after their one-day series against the West Indies in India.

First XI captain David Majtlis, opening bowler Adam Lubitz and former Firsts bowlers David Gelbart, Daniel Onas and Garry Litinsky were among the lucky MAAC group. Chairman of selectors Paul Fink answered a call from Prahran Cricket Club via Twitter for net bowlers.
