Meeting of minds
'I strongly believe that to combat hate we have to work together and share each other's perspectives on common issues.'
THE new president of the Jews, Christians and Muslims Association Rabbi Gabi Kaltmann was congratulated last week by an array of interfaith leaders, including the Archbishop of Melbourne Peter Comensoli. Catching up in person, the two discussed their similarities and differences, an experience the ARK Centre rabbi described as “enriching”.
Rabbi Kaltmann told The AJN, “I strongly believe that to combat hate we have to work together and share each other’s perspectives on common issues. Subsequently deep friendships and commonalities emerge. In order to combat hate we have to work together and hear each other’s perspectives. When you have the chance to develop relationships with other faith leaders who are doing similar work you can create friendships that facilitate further communication and dialogue.”
