Just weeks after 18-year-old former AJAX Footy Club junior Harry Sheezel was snapped up by the North Melbourne Kangaroos as the third pick in the 2022 AFL draft, former AJAX junior Mia Zielinksi, 17, took another step towards making the next AFLW draft.

Zielenski, a Haileybury College student, gained selection into Victoria Metro’s ‘state hub’ of 19 top players, who will be prospective draftees for the 2023 AFLW draft.

The 174cm tall forward was the leading Sandringham Dragons goalscorer in the 2022 NAB League U18 girls’ season, kicking 13 majors, and taking 18 marks.

In a typically impactful performance in the forward pocket last May in her debut for AJAX’s VAFA women’s Division 2 team – when still 16 – she kicked 3 goals in a win over Glen Eira.

She is pictured here in that game, taking a one-handed mark.

Her two brothers, Corey and Loki, currently play for AJAX’s men’s teams.

Always dangerous inside 50, Zielinski possesses both the ability to take game-changing marks, and a booming, accurate kicking game, making her a constant goal-scoring threat.
