Midler doubles down on baby formula shortage comments
Jewish diva Bette Midler put her admittedly very talented foot in her mouth again, this time when she made a Twitter comment about breastfeeding in relation to the baby formula shortage facing the US.
Due to a recall at an Abbott Nutrition plant in Michigan, more than 40 per cent of baby formula supplies are out of stock, leaving many parents without an adequate amount food to sustain their children.
TRY BREASTFEEEDING! It’s free and available on demand. https://t.co/15xetgg1ps

In response to a tweet highlighting the problematic fact that three companies control over 90 per cent of the baby formula market, Midler tweeted “TRY BREASTFEEDING! It’s free and available on demand.”
Following the very understandable backlash to her tweet from high-profile people and laypeople alike, Midler doubled down and cited some very antiquated notions about formula.
People are piling on because of former tweet. No shame if you can’t breastfeed, but if you can & are somehow convinced that your own milk isn’t as good as a “scientifically researched product”, that’s something else again. The monopoly news is news to me, tho, no lie. #WETNURSES
