After a poor 2022 season, Maccabi-Hakoah FC’s men’s teams had their best round in the Eastern Suburbs Football Association competition for a long time last weekend, winning all nine competition points on offer between them in round 7.

In Saturday men’s division one, Maccabi-Hakoah earned their third straight win, after starting this season with a draw and two losses.

They continued their mid-season revival by beating the Heffron Hawks 2-0 last Saturday, with Kevin Geller and Robbie Ezekiel their goal scorers.

The latter is having an extra busy season, as he also plays in the NSW Futsal Winter League.

The team moved up to fourth spot, and are definitely aiming to be finals contenders.

They play third-placed Coogee in a big match this Saturday, with the winner able to cement their position in the top four.

Maccabi-Hakoah’s Saturday division two side won by forfeit against last-placed Easts, but would likely have won if the match had gone ahead.

Although recording two draws, they have not lost a match this season, and the win by forfeit elevated them to second place.

They will face fourth-placed Glebe this Saturday.

And in the over-45 men’s division one competition, Maccabi-Hakoah had their first win of the season last Sunday, after three draws and two losses.

They defeated Maroubra 3-0, through goals to David Hirst, Jason Mendoza and Rodney Rosmarin, and are improving each round.

The win saw them rise one place to fifth, which is better than expected at the start of the season, when they were considering moving down to division two.
