Mount Scopus Memorial College has appointed Jonathan Feder as co-president alongside current president Amy Hershan, effective June 16, with Feder to assume the role of sole president from January 1, 2027.

Hershan will conclude her tenure at the end of 2026 after 15 years of service to the school. The transition follows a planned leadership succession process as the school progresses through a significant period in its history, including the future development of its Caulfield campus.

Feder is an Old Collegian (OC 1996) and currently has three children at the school. He is a partner at K&L Gates specialising in intellectual property, and brings extensive board experience, having served as a board member and foundation chair of the Melbourne Theatre Company, and as a member of the advisory committee to the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at Melbourne University. He is a current board member at K&L Gates Australia and at Opera Australia.

“I am thrilled to be joining Amy as co-president of Mount Scopus for the remainder of 2026 and then taking on the role of president from 2027,” Feder said. “I am a proud Old Collegian. Mount Scopus has always played a significant role in my life and I see a very bright future ahead for the college. I very much look forward to working with the board, Dan and the leadership team in growing the school and continuing its longstanding tradition of being the leading Jewish day school in Melbourne as we move the school to its new campus in the heart of Caulfield.”

Hershan said Jewish education had never been more important. “I strongly believe the role the college plays in shaping proud, connected and confident young Jewish people is critical to the future of our community. I am enormously proud of what we have achieved together over the years,” she said. “With a strong board, Dan’s leadership and the exciting move to Caulfield ahead, I am incredibly confident about the future of the college.”
