Entries have opened for the 2023 Michael Coppel Theatrical Australian Jewish Snow Sports Championships, to be held at Mt Buller ski resort in Victoria, on July 30 and 31.

The event, presented by AJAX Ski Club in conjunction with Maccabi, is for skiers and snowboarders of all ages.

It’s been going strong for more than 20 years, with entrants from interstate – particularly NSW – heading to the ski slopes to be a part of it.

Skiers and snowboarders will compete in a slalom event in their discipline, offered in six age groups.

This year’s races will be held on the Skyline course, with each competitor doing two runs to give them a combined time.

The competition will be followed by a presentation ceremony in the Mt Buller cinema complex.

AJAX Ski Club president Paul Fleiszig said the event is not just about the competition though.

There are also social functions held on the first evening that bring everyone together. For kids and teens there’s a choice of defying gravity at the Buller AirZone trampoline centre, joining a film night at the AJAX ski lodge, or hanging out in the games room.

While the adults can shmooze over delicious canapes and wine at the lodge.
