‘Our collective obligation to remember’
'75 years after the Holocaust, Australia honours the memory of those killed and recommits to ensuring this darkest chapter in history is never repeated'.
ALTHOUGH March of the Living (MOTL) did not take place this year, more than 10,000 people from 60 countries took part in the organisation’s virtual memorial plaque initiative over the past week.
The project gave individuals around the world the opportunity to simulate one of the most meaningful personal moments of MOTL by composing a personal message and placing it on a virtual plaque along the railway tracks leading to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
On Monday evening at the start of Yom Hashoah the plaques were projected onto the camp’s entrance (above).
