EMANUEL School graduate Ben Goldstein had Delta Goodrem flustered when he appeared on the hit television show The Voice on Tuesday night. After Goldstein performed, and both Seal and Goodrem had turned their chairs because they wanted him on their team, Goodrem and Joel Madden joked about the “good-looking guy from Bondi”.
“This is one of the rare moments when the ‘I want you’ at the bottom of her chair means more than just ‘I want you on my team’,” Madden said while looking at Goodrem.
Goldstein, 20, eventually chose Goodrem as a judge, and then the coaches reflected that he was a serious competitor in the nation-wide singing competition.
“I’m going to coach them (my singers) hard because they have competition,” Ricky Martin said after Goldstein sang Bedouin Song by Lior.
Goldstein grew up listening to Don McLean and said he is an inspiration, because he can sit on stage with only a piano or a guitar and tell a story.
