Pesach

Pesach spirit from Mount Sinai College

The Mount Sinai College community presents 'We Don't Talk About Pharoah'

If you have kids, chances are you’ve sung along to the lyrics of Encanto way too many times for your liking.

Well, the Mount Sinai College community can relate, with students obsessed with the song We Don’t Talk About Bruno. Renditions have been sung non-stop all term, including some well-known parodies likeĀ We Don’t Talk About COVID and even the Purim version performed by the Maccabeats just last month.

The staff and students at Mount Sinai though thought it would be fun and engaging for the students to make their very own version for Pesach. And they have definitely delivered the goods.

With such a crazy COVID-effected few months, creating the video was a nice way to end off the term.

Music teacher, Elana Shatari and PDHPE teacher Joel Weiner, together with the students, wrote lyrics, recorded vocals and shot each of the scenes. Collaborating across music and sport meant so many different students from years five and six of all interests and abilities were able to participate in the film, whether that be singing, acting, filming, recording or being background extras.

So far, the video has received more than 6000 views (and it’s climbing).

The school said that in true Mount Sinai spirit, they have already received a number of videos of the younger students performing their own renditions of the song. Stay tuned for another version of the song using the videos that have been sent in.

Chag Sameach!
