Purim Spiel

Phantom of the Babka

An original musical comedy with a good mix of classic Yiddish humour, current affairs and political satire thrown in.

A MELBOURNE Jewish community institution, the annual Purim Spiel is on again next week and as usual, it will deliver in spades.

An original musical comedy with a good mix of classic Yiddish humour, current affairs and political satire thrown in – anything from high level international affairs to the bickering at a local shule board.

While the team keeps things family friendly, nothing is off limits and the cast definitely isn’t afraid to laugh at themselves. This year there’s a great eclectic mix of songs from Les Miserables to Madonna, Hamilton and Kiss, and everything in between.

All profits from the Purim Spiel are sent to Emunah in Israel, a social welfare organisation that provides lifesaving services to more than 10 thousand individuals and families at risk, including infants, children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens.
