Planning for the community’s future

What does the future of Jewish education in Sydney look like?

Over the past year, the JCA’s Education Review Committee has been evaluating the steps needed to plan for the future of Jewish education in the Sydney community.

Bringing their extensive communal and leadership experience to the community are Chairman David Gonski AC and members Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, Stephen Chipkin, Jonathan Gavshon, Anna Green, Anne Hastings, Gary Pinshaw, Caryn Sandler, Jacquie Seemann and Allan Vidor.

Their collective expertise in community education has and will continue to enable the committee to ensure sustainability and innovation in the education space in the future.

Thus far, the committee has been examining the findings of a NOUS report conducted last year, which surveyed parents across independent and government schools to understand the current attitudes towards academic excellence and religious education. NOUS, the independent management consultancy engaged for the initial survey and report, has continued to work with the committee and act as a consultant.

Over the past six months, the committee has deliberated effective solutions for the complexities of education provisions and funding. The committee’s final report will be finalised this month after further research with relevant leaders and experts. “We have consulted with leaders in the education space and are working together to get the best possible results for our community,” stated David Gonski.
