Preschool brings community together
Inspiring wonder and creativity in pre-school children.
Located on the campus of the Emanuel Synagogue, Emanuel Woollahra Preschool (EWP) is an independent, progressive and pluralist centre designed to inspire wonder and creativity for pre-school children.
Under the directorship of Fiona Ozana, EWP has flourished and become a sought-after preschool in the eastern suburbs, thanks to its unique approach to early learning that enables each child to realise their potential.
An aspect that rings true of this approach is EWP’s broad curriculum, offering programs including music, drama, yoga, meditation, Hebrew, gymnastics and Bush Kinder, an outdoor program that encourages connecting to nature. EWP’s educators are committed to producing ongoing high-quality education and care that the preschool is renowned for, while supporting a culture of investigative and explorative play.
Celebrating Jewish culture is also integrated throughout EWP’s weekly programs, culminating with Shabbat celebrations and challah baking on Fridays in addition to the Jewish festivals throughout the calendar year.
Every year, EWP also embarks on its own community projects, creating opportunities for the community to come together and participate in meaningful events. Last year, the centre was honoured to listen to Holocaust survivor, Eddie Jaku. Other projects have included learning about other cultures through sharing, and learning about different traditions, song, dance and history.
The early learning years are a precious time in a child’s life and school journey, and EWP welcomes young learners and their famiies to become a part of its inspired community, which nurtures the future thinkers, creators and doers of tomorrow.
