Race to save a life

SAVE a Child’s Heart (SACH) CEO Doron Lazarus will go above and beyond his professional brief today (Friday) when he runs the Eilat Desert Marathon in Israel to help save a young girl from Zambia’s life.

Bernnandet was born with life-threatening heart disease, but like many children from developing countries, does not have access to the critical care she needs.

Israeli-based SACH provides lifesaving heart surgery for these children.

“Over the past 25 years, we’ve saved the lives of nearly 6000 precious children,” Lazarus said.

“While in Israel to visit our new International Pediatric Cardiac Centre and Children’s Hospital, I will be running the Eilat Desert Marathon to raise $20,000 in support of Bernnandet’s surgery and to fund vital equipment and supplies.

“As I run, my thoughts will be with Bernnandet, who has just made the long flight from Zambia, alongside her anxious mother.”

And while their journeys will begin from different sides of the world – and under very different circumstances – their paths will unite at Save A Child’s Heart in Israel.

“There, Bernnandet will receive her life-saving operation at the very time of my visit,” Lazarus said.

“But Bernnandet and the hundreds of children each year in our care cannot receive life-saving treatment and a bright future without the kindness of our donors. Each donation matters and will go directly to Bernnandet’s treatment.”
