Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin has been named 19th on the Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Power 100 list for 2025.

Ryvchin said the recognition belonged equally to his wife Vicki, his parents, and the Jewish community. “It is not mine alone. It belongs in equal part to Vicki, who has endured everything with me, to my parents who instilled in me a love of being Jewish, to my ECAJ family, with whom I fight, side by side, day after day,” Ryvchin said.

“Whatever I have attained belongs to my community. It is out of my love for you that I do what I do, and I will fight for you and for this country, the greatest and freest country, for as long as I have words to summon and breath in my body.”

The Daily Telegraph noted Ryvchin’s former home was targeted in an antisemitic attack at the start of the year, when graffiti was sprayed on the front of the house and cars were set alight.

“It was obvious at the time it was a targeted attack and it’s since been confirmed as such by the police,” Ryvchin told the Telegraph.

“So on some level I processed that as another attack on the community. And it was. We weren’t targeted because of a financial debt or personal dislike, it was because of what I stand for and what I’m seen to represent.”

Reflecting on the challenges of the past two years, Ryvchin described the period as “absolutely relentless”.

“While it takes a toll, it’s been so joyous to fight for a community that you’re part of and love, and to fight to protect a country you believe in,” he said.

Ryvchin described the October 13 release of the last living hostages held by Hamas under a deal brokered by US President Donald Trump as “a beautiful moment” and an “incredible day”.
