Shining a light on women’s wellness
Orah Sydney's women's wellness day will explore menopause, sleep, stress, nutrition and wellbeing.
Orah Sydney will host its second annual “Rise and Shine” women’s wellness day on Sunday, August 2 that will feature a line-up of leading experts to start conversations about, and provide insights and information into, topics like menopause, sleep, stress, exercise, nutrition, and the load women carry.
The type of questions that many women ask themselves in the middle of the night will be asked out loud, and explored, under one roof.
Headlining Rise and Shine is Dr Ginni Mansberg – a GP, author, and one of Australia’s most trusted voices on midlife health.
She will deliver a keynote session titled: Menopause, Out Loud!
Clinical psychologist and insomnia researcher Dr Amelia Scott will discuss sleep health, and dietitian and nutritionist Arlene Normand will offer advice on midlife metabolism, strength and GLP-1 medications.
There will be a session led by Dr Sue Morris on making stress your superpower, one by clinical psychologist Renee Mill on marriage, family and friendship in midlife, and another by Chanie Wolff about the question behind the whole day – if women support everyone else, who supports them?
Orah Sydney co-president Julie Klimt said, “After the years our community has had, a day like this isn’t an indulgence – it’s maintenance, and it’s necessary.
“Jewish women have been holding their families and their community together through an extraordinarily hard time.
“The Rise and Shine event is one morning where the community can hold [support] them back.
“And we will talk out loud about the real things: menopause, sleep, the load. There will be no whispering.”
Attendees can build their own program when booking, by choosing between talks and movement sessions that include restorative yoga, Pilates, sound meditation, breathwork, and a Kabbalah tea ceremony.
The day opens with a warm welcome, and closes with a communal intention-setting moment.
The Rise and Shine event is Orah’s major annual fundraiser.
It will feature a silent auction of more than $30,000 in goods and experiences, donated by the community.
Every dollar raised will help fund Orah’s year-round programs that connect and inspire Jewish women in Sydney through learning, sisterhood and community.
Volunteer-run and not-for-profit, Orah has grown from a grassroots program to a community organisation serving hundreds of women, grounded in the belief that inspired women inspire families, and inspired families sustain Jewish continuity.
The event will be held on August 2 from 8.15am to 2.30pm in an eastern suburbs location. To book, and view the full program line-up, visit trybooking.com/DMTVW
