IT’S the match Jewish touch football players have been waiting for.

On Sunday morning at Queens Park the two Maccabi teams will face each other for the first time this season.

The top-flight team, Maccabi Men’s, will try and win back-to-back matches for the first time this season, while the Maccabi Tigers – who remain winless after four rounds – will be full of passion.

The Tigers lost to Inferno Men last Sunday morning, and they need to prove they are better than the scoreline suggested.

Tigers team manager David Goot said he was looking forward to the match.
“It’s nice to be able to play against people that we know, even though there is a big disparity in the quality of the two teams this year,” Goot said.

“Some great players have left the top team but they also have some new players from the Moriah Old Boys team, so it will be good to see how they go.

“We know we are going to be beaten, but it’s going to a great match and we are looking forward to it.”

In action last Sunday morning Adam Zinman led Maccabi’s top team to victory over Torndoes, 6-1, when he scored a hat-trick.

Team captain Yotam Hatzvi said it had been a good start to the season.
“We faced three of the top teams in the first three rounds and had one victory from those games,” Hatzvi said.

“‘Zinny’ has been at his try-scoring best and our defence is pretty solid so far.
“We’re pretty much aiming for a grand final spot and we’re heading in the right direction.”
