Students dress up as their 100-year-old selves

It was celebration time as schools marked 100 days of kindergarten.

Students at Masada College celebrated by dressing up as their 100-year-old selves, enjoyed maths activities to explore the number 100 and shared celebratory cakes.

Kindergarten teacher at Masada College Michelle Freedman said it was “a wonderful way for the children to reflect on all that they have learnt in a short time and to discuss what they are looking forward to this term”.

The children were “super excited” to celebrate 100 days of kindergarten, an important milestone for them and their parents.

“Due to the impact COVID has had on these young people, our objective has been to build in as many fun and engaging events to the curriculum as possible,” Freedman said.

The 100 days of learning is being used at Masada to build children’s knowledge of the number 100, including counting forwards, counting in tens and working out how many days were left until they reached 100.

Freedman said the children were “totally engaged” in the day’s activities, understood the significance of the celebration, and were “extremely proud” of all they had learnt in their first 100 days of school.

“I am so proud of our kindy superstars,” she added.
