A TEAM from Israeli aid organisation SmartAID has arrived in Australia to help locals in Kangaroo Island affected by the bushfires.

The group is working alongside the Australian army, firefighters and local volunteers to clear the rubble of burned homes and assist farmers in rebuilding their livelihood, reports Israel 21C.

“We are here shoulder to shoulder helping our Australian friends who lost everything to the fire,” said SmartAID global goodwill ambassador Alethea Gold.

Meanwhile, an Israeli Bushfire Relief Event has been organised by JNF Australia, KKL, the Zionist Federation of Australia and the Israel-Australia Chamber of Commerce.

To be held in Tel Aviv on February 3, proceeds will go to support the World Wildlife Fund’s Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund.
