Support Israel's People

Support the people of Israel this Rosh Hashanah

As we approach Rosh Hashanah, continue to show your support for the people of Israel by contributing to UIA.

UIA NSW is proud to stand with the people of Israel, now more than ever as we have witnessed the worst humanitarian crisis in Europe since WWII this year, with tens of thousands of Jews being displaced – not only from Ukraine, but also Russia, Belarus and other FSU countries who have sought, and continue to seek, refuge in Israel.

In partnership with its global family and as a Jewish international collective, with campaigns in 40 countries and operating in nine languages across 22 time zones, UIA works to further the national priorities of the State of Israel through its many projects.

These projects place special emphasis on advancing weaker communities; nurturing disadvantaged and marginalised youth, connecting young Diaspora Jews to Israel and Jewish life; and in this instance encouraging aliyah. With your support, UIA is able to assist new immigrants in realising their dream of making Israel their home.

UIA’s strategic partner the Jewish Agency for Israel has and continues to work tirelessly on the frontlines rescuing thousands of Jewish refugees, and the global UIA family has generously provided financial support to assist with this emergency operation. Yet, the need continues.

Over 18,000 immigrants have already made aliyah from the FSU, representing 86 per cent of all olim this year so far. These olim are currently being supported in Israel through absorption services and programs provided by Keren Hayesod-UIA (KH-UIA) in partnership with the Jewish Agency, with more expected to arrive.

Moving from the emergency phase to the long-term planning phase requires substantial funding to address the demands. KH-UIA is proud to be part of this incredible operation and is continuing to focus on providing these olim with long term tools to ensure they become productive members of Israeli society. This is evident through the plethora of absorption programs and services provided such Ulpan Hebrew classes, fast tracking professional qualifications, mentoring services and integration support.

UIA is grateful for the generosity of its supporters who enable the organisation to perform this life-saving work. However, this emergency campaign is over and above the daily work of KH-UIA, which includes supporting 6000 youth at-risk, 7000 elderly Holocaust survivors, 11,000 Masa participants and hundreds of lone soldiers and single mothers through many of its programs.

As we approach Rosh Hashanah, a valuable way to continue to show your support for the people of Israel, including the new olim who have been rescued from war, is by contributing to UIA.

UIA thanks you for your unwavering support for the people of Israel and wish the community a Shanah Tovah!
