Support the people of Israel

Standing with the people of Israel, and helping new immigrants realise their dreams.

UIA NSW is proud to stand with the people of Israel, now more than ever, as the devastating global pandemic continues to change and uproot life as we know it. Due to pandemic-related global distress and growing antisemitism, there has been a new and urgent motivation to make aliyah since last year, with aliyah applications having increased by 50 per cent. With your support, UIA can assist new immigrants in realising their dream of making Israel their home.

A key focus for UIA is Youth Futures – a revolutionary mentoring program conducted in schools mainly on Israel’s periphery, for disadvantaged children aged 6-13 years old with 14,000+ participants in 36 communities. Through this initiative, qualified mentors provide specialised support to each child and family to help them bridge critical gaps and succeed academically, socially and in life overall.

Another focus for UIA through Women’s Division in NSW is First Line Families, an early-intervention outreach program for families in crisis, which aims to assist youth at-risk and their families who attend Keren Hayesod-UIA-supported Jewish Agency Youth Villages. First Line Families operates via a central response hub, starting with an in-person visit by a social worker to homes and subsequently offering immediate and effective responses to a wide range of urgent needs, tailored to each individual case. The varied needs being assessed and remedied may include sufficient food, adequate living conditions, essential home repairs, family counselling and domestic violence intervention, among others.

As we approach Rosh Hashanah, which will once again be tough for many, a wonderful way to continue to show your support for the people of Israel is by contributing to UIA.
