Sydney’s Jewish community will gather at dawn on Wednesday, October 7 for the third annual commemoration of the October 7 attacks.
The event will begin at 6.29am, the moment the attacks on Israel began three years ago, with a shofar sounded at dawn as those gathered remember the victims.
StandWithUs Australia executive director Michael Gencher said the anniversary remained deeply significant for Jewish communities worldwide.
“Three years on, the events of October 7 remain deeply personal for so many of us. We remember the innocent lives taken, the families shattered and the survivors who continue to carry the trauma of that day,” Gencher said.
“Gathering at 6.29am is a powerful act of remembrance. As the shofar sounds, we stand together to honour those we lost, support those still living with the consequences and ensure that their stories are never forgotten.
“We invite our community, our friends and our allies to join us at dawn. Their presence is a meaningful demonstration of solidarity with the victims, survivors and families whose lives were forever changed.”
The commemoration is presented by StandWithUs Australia in partnership with the Zionist Council of NSW, the Combat Antisemitism Movement, Mizrachi Synagogue and the Centre for Combatting Antisemitism Australia.
