THREE Maccabi netball teams are undefeated after six weeks of competition in the Northern Suburbs Netball Association (NSNA).
The under-11A, under-12A and under-15A teams have all been in amazing form, racking up a total of 374 goals, which is an average of more than 20 per game.
Leading the charge is the under-11 team, which is playing in the NSNA for the first time.
“They are motivated and determined to win each game and they demonstrate this every week,” coach Elana Levin said.
“Ashley Cohn and Tayla Cohen are feisty in attack and supported by accurate shooting from Shira Hayim, Madison Zuck and Becki Friderich.”
Levin also said that defenders Jaimie Herman, Gabriella Sacks and Tamara Ephron ensure the opposition rarely scores.
The under-12A team, which only lost one game last season, has continued its strong run. Coach Jessica Goulburn said the team has showed dedication by not relaxing, despite a series of easy victories.
“Despite winning by such a large margin, they continue to fight for every match. They’re feisty,” said Goulburn.
“They really trust each other on court and they know that they have each other’s backs.”
Lily Speiser and Abigail Goldman have led the team under the basket, while Eden Glover and Abbie Gentin have been solid in defence.
The third undefeated Maccabi team is under-15A, which beat second-placed NSNA 24-19 on the weekend.
They are playing some of the strongest girls in their age group since moving into division-2 under the supervision of coach Sally Cowan.
