THE Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance (JOFA) Australia is excited to host another in-person event in Melbourne with the feminist author and activist Sally Berkovic.

Sally Berkovic grew up in Melbourne, and after living in Jerusalem and New York, moved to London where she has lived for nearly 30 years.

Berkovic is the author of Under My Hat – first published in 1997 and updated in 2019 – about the impact of contemporary social trends on the religious lives of Jewish women. Since 2009, she has been the CEO of the Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe, supporting Jewish heritage and culture across Europe.

JOFA Australia president Nomi Kaltmann said the organisation is “excited to host Sally Berkovic in Melbourne and hear about her experience as an Orthodox feminist”.

“We are thrilled that women in the Australian Jewish community will be able to hear from a trailblazer in this space, someone who can share her wealth of experience and knowledge with a new generation,” she said.

“Sally is a renowned educator and speaker. We are very much looking forward to hearing about her new book, we know that the event will be engaging and enlightening.”

Tickets are free and the event will be hosted in a private home in Caulfield on Tuesday, July 5 at 7pm.
