THE trial of former Adass Israel School principal Malka Leifer has been deferred to early next year.
The County Court of Victoria announced that the trial has now been listed for February 7, preceded by a directions hearing to be held on November 28 this year.
The trial – estimated to take about five weeks – was initially due to begin in August this year.
Leifer will face charges relating to alleged abuse during her role at the Melbourne school between 2004 and 2008.
A suppression order on media coverage of the trial by Judge Mark Gamble remains in effect, the court announced.
