Trip of a lifetime for educators
The unique initiative aims to deepen understanding of Israel's heritage.
Applications for the Jewish National Fund (JNF) Educators Study Tour have been extended to August 4.
This is an all-expenses-paid tour on the ground covering accommodation, meals, internal travel, professional guides and facilitators. Participants are responsible for flights, travel insurance and pre/post tour expenses.
The program, which will return after a two-year hiatus, brings together educators from Jewish, independent and public schools across Australia and New Zealand to explore Israel’s rich history, vibrant culture, environmental innovation and cutting-edge education initiatives.
Throughout the 10-day immersive experience, participants will visit Israeli schools and connect with local teachers and environmental leaders; tour historical and modern sites that tell Israel’s evolving story; explore JNF-supported projects in land, water and forestry across the country; and engage in high-level educational programming focusing on Zionist and environmental values, with resources adapted for Australian classrooms.
This unique initiative aims to deepen understanding of Israel’s heritage, develop classroom-ready resources and foster stronger connections between Australian and Israeli educators and communities.
Former participant Louise Canning, a year 2 teacher at Sinai College said of the program, “My trip to Israel was truly a life changing experience. It gave me a much deeper understanding, love and appreciation for the people of Israel. I met past students and their families briefly and realised what an impact we as educators have on our students. I have been able to share this insight with my family, friends and colleagues and the memories live in me forever. I cannot thank JNF enough for this incredible experience”
Emma Fredman from Kensington Public School commented, “I went to Israel in July 2022 and had the best trip of a lifetime. Exploring schools, education facilities, kindergartens, kibbutzes, historic places and having meaningful guest speakers was a highlight. The way we were treated by everyone and looked after made us all feel so special and like royalty. I have been to Israel before but never experienced so much information and excitement all rolled into one trip. I would highly recommend this as a once in a lifetime trip.
“Not only did it reaffirm my passion and dedication for Israel and JNF, it enriched my dedication as an educator and I am forever inspired.”
