Jemima Montag to address AJAX President’s lunch

Reigning Commonwealth Games women’s 20km race walking gold medallist and Tokyo Olympian, Jemima Montag, will be the guest speaker at AJAX Footy Club’s President’s Lunch next month – the first held in more than two years.

It will start at midday on Saturday, June 4 at David Mandie Pavilion in Albert Park, and finish just before the Jackas’ first match back at their traditional home, Gary Smorgon Oval, in season 2022.

Trio of debutants get their chance for Jackas

With five regular starters unavailable for the Jackas’ senior men’s team last Saturday, it was an opportunity to promote Remy Spicer, Raph Light, and Loki Zielinski to Premier B first grade versus Beaumaris.

The Jackas lost 59-102, but the effort was there, and the team is still in the premiership hunt, with three wins and three losses, and travel to Mentone this Saturday.

In reserves, the Jackas’ development team were defeated 45-74 by Beaumaris, but it was their most consistent performance as a team so far.

Their men’s Sunday Thirds team fell just short to Fitzroy, losing 8.9 (57) to 9.7 (61). Gabe Jotkowitz top-scored with four goals.

And in women’s Division 2, the Jackettes had just their second loss in seven rounds, to the undefeated Hampton Rovers, 15-61.

Hat-tricks and braces in good round for Maccabi

NORTH Caulfield Maccabi FC’s two men’s teams won both of their games for the first time in the 2022 State League 2 south-east competition last weekend in round 10.

In first grade, Maccabi recorded their first win, 3-0 over Monbulk Rangers. Ariel Ritz, Ashlee Langford, and Joel Parasol scored a goal each.

In reserve grade, Maccabi beat Monbulk 5-1, via a hat-trick to Michail Schneider, and two own goals.

In round 5 of the women’s State League 1 South-East there were mixed results for Maccabi FC Caulfield.

In first grade, Tahni Paluch scored their lone goal in a 1-4 loss to second-placed Mazenod, while in reserve grade, Maccabi upset 5th-placed Mazenod 4-3, with goals to Lizzie Quinton (2), Erica Dudek, and Meg O’Sullivan.

There was only one juniors match for Maccabi, with their U16 Colts boys’ thrashing Manningham 9-3.

Ian Altman scored a hat-trick, Noah Pook and Josh Parasol scored 2 goals each, and Yehuda Moss and Moritz Dommenget also scored.
