From my family to yours Victorian Premier

‘We should all embrace with joy the opportunity’

We honour your strength, your generosity and your resilience. We join with you in hope for a better year ahead.

I extend my heartfelt wishes to Victoria’s Jewish community for Rosh Hashanah.

It’s an important moment for the community, yet it’s also something all Victorians can share in and celebrate.

We should all embrace with joy the opportunity to gather with loved ones, deepen our faith and look forward to the year ahead.

I know that events in the Middle East – and incidents in Australia and across the world – are again casting their shadow over this holiday.

I can never truly feel the unique sorrow that the Jewish community is experiencing right now. But I see it and I understand it.

I recognise your families are enduring a rise in antisemitic danger and hatred of the kind that we all thought was vanquished years ago.

As I said in Parliament, your safety is our safety.

We stand with you against hate and harm. We honour your strength, your generosity and your resilience. We join with you in hope for a better year ahead.

May that year bring you the peace, health, safety and prosperity you deserve.

From my family to yours, I wish you a very happy Rosh Hashanah.
