Once out of lockdown, The Jewish Museum of Australia is ready to welcome back school and program visits. Whether primary schools, secondary schools, specialist subjects and VCE, tours and programs can be individually curated through content and delivery to suit each group.

Such tours can have a focus on the current flagship exhibition of Mirka Mora, as well as on the museum’s permanent collection of Jewish history and culture in Australia. Organised school visits to the museum include access to the exhibitions and question and answer sessions with the museum staff to further develop students’ understanding of our Jewish history.

The museum’s current feature showing, Mirka, is an immersive exhibition showcasing the life and work of Mirka Mora, a French-born Australian visual artist and cultural figure who contributed significantly to the development of contemporary art in Australia. The displays and interactive activities reflect her trademark mischievousness and bohemian spirit, and shares her powerful story in vivid detail, as told through artwork, letters, sketchbooks, diaries and recorded interviews.

The Jewish Museum’s website offers a range of free downloadable educational resources including the Mirka Manifesto, which can be used to support teachers and students during their visit or in the classroom.
