Caulfield Shule recently hosted an event celebrating the wonders of the South African bush.

Caulfield Shule’s Rabbi Daniel Rabin told The AJN, “The event left attendees in awe and with a deeper appreciation for the country’s breathtaking landscapes and culinary delights.”

Held on June 20, the event brought together adventure enthusiasts and foodies for an evening filled with “captivating stories, South African delicacies, and a celebration of the African spirit”.

Rabbi Rabin said guest speaker Sean Rubenstein, a safari ranger, relayed his firsthand experiences of tracking “majestic wildlife, encountering the Big Five up close, and witnessing the untamed beauty of the African bush”.

Event attendees indulged in a tasting of authentic South African delicacies.

The menu included boerewors sausages, biltong and pap, a traditional maize porridge.

“The gathering highlighted the power of storytelling and the joy of sharing experiences,” said Rabbi Rabin.

“It was a privilege to witness the impact of Sean’s tales and the connection they fostered among the attendees,” he said.

“With memories and inspiration in their hearts, attendees left the event with a renewed sense of adventure and a deeper understanding of South Africa’s wonders.”

The evening, organised by Caulfield Shule, was “a testament to the country’s rich heritage and the ability of storytelling and gastronomy to bring people together in celebration of our shared humanity”.
