The Joint Australia sets up appeal
The Joint Australia – the Australian branch of JDC – has set up an appeal to help Morocco’s earthquake victims, and will be providing those who make a donation with regular updates on progress achieved on the ground.

Beyond the Jewish community, The Joint has also provided winter survival aid to 22,000 people in need, evacuated over 13,000 people and provided baby formula to young mothers.

Memories of Marc Chagall
WERE it not for the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), Belarusian-born French painter Marc Chagall would likely have perished, his granddaughter Bella Meyer told audiences at the organisation’s gala dinners in Sydney and Melbourne this month.

Chagall’s granddaughter visiting for Joint
IN 1921, Marc Chagall, born Moishe Segal in Lithuania, lived in poverty near Moscow, amid the chaos of the Bolshevik Revolution. To supplement his income from the modernist paintings he pioneered, the struggling artist taught art at a shelter supported by the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) for Jewish boys orphaned by Ukrainian pogroms. The art lessons buoyed their threadbare lives.
